Q Skills Digital Flow
Digital Flow is a new way of teaching with Q: Skills for Success materials. It is 100% digital, with materials designed for screens, creating a simple, intuitive and engaging learning environment for teachers and students alike. Q Skills Digital Flow allows teachers and learners to work seamlessly with Q: Skills for Success materials, renowned for helping students to achieve academic success, whether lessons are taught online, in person, or both.

Q Skills Digital Flow is 100% digital. This means there are no print items. Instead, there is a Classroom Lesson and a Student Lesson, both delivered digitally. Students have access to the Student Lessons, whereas teachers have access to both.

Classroom Lessons
The Classroom Lesson is designed to be facilitated by the teacher and includes collaborative and communicative activities where the whole class is involved. Features such as movable audio and video players, interactive scripts and pop-up boxes facilitate learning and student engagement.

Student Lessons
The Student Lesson is designed for students to complete independently either before or after class, and contains the same audio recordings, reading texts and videos as the Classroom Lesson but offers different practice activities. All Student Lesson activities are auto-graded. Teachers can ask students to complete the Student Lesson before or after completing the Classroom Lesson together. Students need a digital device to complete the work in the Student Lesson independently.

Online Assessment
Q Skills Digital Flow’s online assessment package includes placement, end of unit, mid and end of level tests. Teachers can preview and set tests online for students to complete. Tests are auto-marked and all results are added to the gradebook alongside the progress for the Student Lesson activity results, giving teachers a complete view of student progress through the course.

Students can easily complete online tests assigned by their teacher, and instantly view their results and get feedback on each question.

  • Author-voiced videos accompany each strategy to guide your students' critical thinking and help them gain a deeper understanding.

  • Succeed academically.
    Q Skills Digital Flow prepares students with the core language skills and the softer skills they need for academic success.
  • The course promotes continuous learning and encourages students to evaluate their own progress with detailed answer explanations and reflection worksheets.
  • Texts and videos feature topics that have been chosen by teachers to inspire students to engage with their learning.
  • A research-based vocabulary program focuses on the words students need to know academically and professionally. The vocabulary syllabus in Q Skills Digital Flow is correlated to the CEFR and linked to two word lists:
  • The Oxford 3000™ and new Oxford 5000™, which list the core words that every learner needs to know, chosen by language experts.
  • The Oxford Phrasal Academic Lexicon (OPAL), which is collection of four word lists that provide an essential guide to the most important words and phrases to know in academic English. The OPAL includes both spoken and written academic English and both individual words and longer phrases.

    Q: Skills for Success

    Q: Skills for Success is designed to develop students’ English language and study skills to prepare them for academic success. We undertook an impact study* to find out if Q: Skills for Success is perceived to improve the metacognitive skills students need for academic study, including core skills, softer skills and critical thinking skills.

    * An impact study is research that investigates a particular change or outcome that a product or service has on the group of people it is intended to help or benefit.

    • 90% of teachers agreed that Q: Skills for Success has played a significant part in improving the skills their students need for academic study
    • 81% of teachers agreed that Q: Skills for Success improves the softer skills students need to develop effective study techniques
    • 80% of teachers agreed that Q: Skills for Success has helped to improve students’ critical thinking skills, particularly in synthesizing and organizing ideas.

    System requirements

    Teachers using Q Skills Digital Flow will need a stable internet connection, a digital device, and classrooms with projectors/screen/Interactive Whiteboards. Additionally, students will require personal digital devices and internet connection for online work at home.
