Mary Slattery is a teacher trainer and writer. For the past 20 years she has worked on teacher development programmes in university and on in-service courses around the world. Meeting and working with teachers in schools has been her greatest inspiration. Such a co-operative approach has allowed her to research how children's language learning can be supported through stories, visual arts and puppetry. One of the main influences on Mary's teaching was her mother who taught her through English and Irish. Mary is co-author of the award winning English for Primary Teachers and author of Vocabulary Activities. Her latest book Teaching with Bear will be available in autumn 2008.
