Alan C McLean has over thirty years' experience in the field of English as a foreign language as a teacher, teacher-trainer, textbook author, editor, and project consultant.

After teaching English in Zambia for six years, he joined the British Council as English Language Officer. He was Director of Studies of the British Institute, Caracas and was then in charge of the Council's ELT programme in Nepal. In 1999, Alan was engaged as English consultant on a GTZ/EU project to improve pre-service training in Jordanian universities. He is also currently engaged in developing textbook material for Egypt.

His publications with Oxford University Press include Martin Luther King in the Oxford Bookworms Factfiles series; Get Set-Go!, a six-level primary course; and From the Heart in the Dominoes series.
