Mary Charrington

After gaining an English degree from Oxford University, Mary Charrington attended the School of Education at Bristol University where she trained as a teacher of English and TEFL. She went on to teach children from various European countries at language schools in the UK and then joined the Japanese-British Government English Teaching Programme and taught young beginners at a Junior High School just outside Tokyo, where she developed an interest in the preparation of appropriate materials.

In 1988 she joined Heinemann ELT, where she had responsibility for major courses for Spain, Greece, Japan, the Far East, and Latin America. For the last eleven ten years she has worked as a freelance writer and content editor of Primary ELT materials for a variety of markets. She is co-author of three major children's courses, and has also written supplementary materials. She is the author of Christmas Fun!, published by Oxford University Press.
